From the opening service of the Believers Conference on Saturday night, right through the entire week, the presence of God was evident in every service. A major effort was launched to bring churches and ministries together to support these services and it proved possible that pastors & leaders would leave their differences behind to win souls to Christ. An incredible spirit of unity and harmony prevailed with everyone content to let God get the glory and do His amazing work by the Holy Spirit. Such a beautiful spirit was evident as the Evangelist shared his heart with passion and anointing, night after night, and the fact that the altars were filled with seekers, is proof that God uses the humble and called. So successful were these meetings that the 28 churches and ministries taking part immediately asked Evangelist Shyju if he would return next year in July for an even larger Conference. The youth of Canada are excited and empowered by one of their own!

The Downpour – “an Answer to Prayers” “Here are the seeds of the future...here is the answer to prayer!” These were my observations as I looked out over the faces of those gathered for the Downpour Miracle Crusade service! To Toronto have come the nations of the world! In this, the most multi-cultural city of the entire world, is an end-time, global harvest plan! The nations have been gathered as have some of the most powerful anointing in the world; but, how shall they meet? How shall they mingle? How will partnerships be formed to establish the unity necessary for the Lord’s kingdom purposes to advance? The last five letters of “opportunity” spell “unity”! Downpour became that opportunity for believers of several nations to be gathered together. Evangelist Shyju was preaching to a gathering that is an answer to our prayers...and part of God’s dream! Over the last three years through the worship gathering Heaven’s Rehearsal and through Global Day of Prayer and other mandates that harvest dream in the Father’s heart is being advanced. The Downpour meetings have watered that seed and caused the coming forth of the new thing here in our city of Toronto. From here it will spring to the nations.

“The Downpour 2009” – John Gnanasekar The churches came together and prayed for a great downpour in the city of Toronto since the city was parading and celebrating sins like that of Sodom and Gomorrah. Just as Elijah had prophesied, “…For there is the sounds of a heavy rain.” 1 Kings 18:41, we stood in faith as Evangelist Shyju Mathew entered Toronto to fulfill the work of God. The conferences and crusades caused great unity amongst the Churches and raised an army to stand up boldly for Jesus Christ. “The Downpour” drew many ethnic backgrounds and a diverse international crowd to the presence of God. Youths re-dedicated their lives to God and a passion to serve the Lord and to fellowship with Him grew in them. There were great signs and wonders that followed as people gave their lives to God and turned to their Healer. The power of God was so tremendous that even the Pastors were not able to stand when being filled with God’s anointing. Personally, God has directed me towards His will so that we may continue the work of God and cause the fire to spread all across Toronto.

Joel 2:23, 24 reads, ‘Be glad then, you children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God; For He has given you the former rain faithfully, And He will cause the rain to come down for you - The former rain, And the latter rain in the first month. The threshing floors shall be full of wheat, and the vats shall overflow with new wine and oil.’
We are living in exciting times when this promise of Scripture is being fulfilled! As the bride of Christ, the Church awaits the imminent return of her bridegroom, the Lord is about to send an unprecedented downpour of His Holy Spirit upon us like never before.
The Downpour is an event that envisions an exceptional outpouring of the mighty rain of the Holy Spirit in the city of Toronto. As Elijah proclaimed the rain to the unbelieving king, let us proclaim revival in the city of Toronto. Let us join hands and unite to receive the fulfillment of the promise of God in these last days.
The city of Toronto, over the past years has deserted God and has taken a stand against the principles and laws of the Lord. Consequentially, it now stands filled with sin, wickedness and immorality; the city has been pushed into a state of dryness, far away from the life-giving presence of God. Today we are desperately in need of God’s mighty reviving rain to breathe life and soundness into our city once again. We believe that this event will unite the body of Christ and bring Churches all through the GTA, to stir up this revival and renewing. The vision of this event is to be a channel through which this revival might be released, first to all believers and then among the youths of this city. For this purpose two kinds of meetings have been organized - the Believers’ conference and the youth conference.
The first Toronto Down Pour meetings were held in the month of July 2009. It was a great blessing for thousands. Evangelist Shyju Mathews from India was invited as the keynote speaker for Toronto DownPour-2009 meetings. Different language speaking Churches, Ministries and many individuals came together and made a blessed event. For the coming Year-2010, we have planned to make these meetings in a different level, to be blessed and to bless many people, by fulfilling the will of our Lord Jesus Christ.
During November 2009, Fall Rally was organized and Evng.Ty Jackson from Toronto was the key note speaker. Lot of youths accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour. It was a very successfull rally for the Lord.
Truly, there is a sound of a heavy rain that is being heard over the skies of our city. Let us prepare ourselves to receive this rain of revival the Lord is going to send. Please join us in this effort to bring revival to our city.
